Heavy Metal Radio Defined. 

 No its not hard rock but an every growing group of crazed hams
with a love of BIG HEAVY radio transmitters. On the small end of 
things 50lbs and the size of a 15" monitor to 1000+lbs. and larger than
an upright freezer! Why so big? Well the vintage helps, 1930's-1960's.

 Also high level amplitude modulation {with tubes anyway} requires
lots of iron. Transformers that is. For High voltage, Bias and filament
power. Also typically a stout modulation transformer is used to deliver
audio to the finial. Wrap it all up in 1/16" thick steel and you have 
one big boat anchor. Or maybe house anchor is more appropriate! So much
for the dissertation. On to my humble collection.
NEW! The BC-610 Page  

BC-610H Circa W.W.II manufactured for US Signal Corps by Hallicrafters. 250TH final modulated with PP 100TH's{class b}. Link coupled output {plug-in coils}, Band switched exciter, Remote audio driver{bc-614}. About 50" High, 600lbs.

 

T-368C Korean war vintage by Crosley. 4-400A Final modulated by PP 4-125A's{class ab1}. PI-L output with vacuum variable caps. PTO tuned continuously from 1.5 to 20 MHz. About 50" High, 750lbs. 
 N3EYR Radio is temporarily off the air as I've moved Again. This time
 to West Sunbury PA.
 Expect to have the rig up this winter. New location is a small city lot and
 low band antenna construction should prove challenging.

In the down time I've been replacing components in the audio chain. New additions are as follow.

 R-174 Receiver: 1.5 to 18mhz. Runs on 6,12,24vdc or 115vac. Works good except AGC action is weak. $75.00 + shipping
